New Year in Georgia is a trip you will remember even in old age! Have you ever visited a fairytale land, where the trees are covered with white coats of snow, and the Caucasus Mountains stand in the background, adorned with white crowns of snow?
We invite you to immerse yourself in the unforgettable atmosphere of New Year’s in Georgia and general fun!
During the New Year’s trip, you can expect not only the New Year’s program with the best Georgian traditions, but also a meaningful sightseeing trip. We will start with Kakheti – the wine region. After all, what’s New Year’s in Georgia without wine, right? Kakheti’s Alazan Valley is a place filled with peace and bliss, where beautiful landscapes flatter the eye. This region is famous not only for its winemaking, but also for its rich history and special towns such as Signagi. Let’s thank the past year and welcome 2023 in a special way! Magnificent views of the Alazani Valley – the snowy mountains of the Greater Caucasus. After the walk, a delicious dinner awaits us – not just a dinner, but a pre-New Year’s atmosphere!
Kakheti is the most important wine region of Georgia, where as much as 75% of the country’s grapes are grown. Due to the remains of 8,000-year-old vines and other winemaking tools found during archaeological research, this region is called the cradle of world winemaking. However, many other places in Kakheti are not yet so popular, one of them is Signagis. This is a small town in Kakheti that is slowly gaining popularity. This old mountain town charms with its cozy cobbled streets and red roofs, which blend perfectly with the panorama of the Alazani Valley and the Caucasus Mountains. Perhaps this is why many couples choose this town for their wedding vows and marriage ceremony, which is believed to have earned the town the name City of Love.
There is a small place in Georgia called Bodbe, where Saint Nino, one of the most revered saints of Georgia, died in the 4th century. After his death (this happened around 335), King Mirian ordered the construction of St. George’s temple. The monastery became a place of Christian pilgrimage. The place charges you with energy and spiritual strength, after visiting Bodbe you start to feel inspired and spiritually uplifted. We will stay nearby in an ethnic, family-style hotel – with all the amenities and amazing views! On the territory of the hotel, you will find a sauna, a fireplace and excellent Kakhetian cuisine, as well as a cotton bed, scented with lavender – we need special sensations to accompany the old years!
First, let’s take a walk around the ancient City of Love. Sighnaghi, the fabulous city of eternal love, surrounded by a medieval wall with 23 towers and love stories above the Alazani Valley. After the walk, a delicious dinner awaits us – not just a dinner, but a pre-New Year’s atmosphere!
The hotel will be filled with the smells of products brought by local farmers: homemade cottage cheese, meat and cheese, scrambled eggs with orange yolks, homemade traditional baked goods. And to all that – strong spicy Georgian coffee, tea, natural pomegranate juice, and finally the smells of traditional sausages on barbecue. Dinner with a Georgian folk singer – a real master of toasts. We will hold a contest – for the best toast – the winner will receive a prize. We will keep the prize a secret.
A fun evening – Kakheti wine, chacha and a real village dinner – tasty and hearty, very tasty – accompanied by Georgian chants – toasts about the fragility of life and love. Sauna and dinner by the fireplace at your service.
